Honestly, I think the idea of a pirate is wonderful. However, I am upset by the fact that they just basically made it another combo of other jobs. Guns? Ranger. Luck? Thief. I mean, what new abilites could you possibly have that a ranger and a thief wouldnt already have or could have had? Steal? Thief. Snipe? Ranger. I think the intent was good but i'm just not feeling the "Pirate" vibe. All I feel is like what they did for the Red Mage: Combine White and Black mages with melee abilites. Thats what they did for Corsair: Combine Ranger and Thief with luck abilites. It doesnt add much to the game at all.
What would be the benefiets of subbing corsair with anything? Basically the same as a Ranger no? The only advantage I can forsee is increased ranged accuracy and damage if subbed with ranger. Otherwise, Im at a loss as to how this will really advance the game.
Eh you might be wrong here?
Ok i can see where ever body thinks that its going to be like a thief/ranger combo class... but everybody keeps calling it a pirate. I think if SE was going to do that to us they wouldn't bother calling it a corsair... ok so the definition of corsair is pirate. But i think knowing the final fantasy history we could be looking at a gun mage? maybe your luck skills have something to do with drops, or maybe its your crit % (ff8) What if they give this job acess to the black market? Or maybe aquan killer effects? it could bring alot to the game... if you read the selection provided by SE it makes referance to the possibilty of multi shot weapons like a revolver. Also "pirates" are renown for their abilites with a sword. so its all speculation right now. Frankly i think most english players tend to limit their self by forming satic character classes with static character subs. The japanese have already proven we have an additoinal tank class in FFXI besides Nin and PLD... your jaw will drop when i mention it.
Yepp they use WHM/NIN think about it tanks need to be able to control hate, don't really need tp, and have servivablity...
eh
yea im not really feeling the pirate vibe lol...idk...thats just me
From the site...
If you look at the site, it seems more of a Gambler.
No clue what this really means, but I doubt it will be like a RNG.

Gambler?
Does this mean the Corsair job can gain in experience by standing in Jeuno for hours and running a Casino?

Pirate
Well if it were to be a Pirate of sorts wouldnt that mean he sits at the entrance to Jeuno and just robs everyone else of their experience so he gains his? Oh and gil too cant forget that.....
